“We are honored to be recognized by our industry peers for construction of these two wonderful facilities that were critical projects for our clients,” said Sam Statz, Hoffman Planning, Design & Construction, Inc. president and owner. “I’m proud of our staff members involved in these projects and their dedication to keeping them on time and on budget, and I’m extremely grateful for our partnerships with the Appleton Area School District and St. John Nepomucene Catholic Community and for their trust in Hoffman.”
The Sandy Slope Elementary School project was honored in the Commercial - New Construction $30 million to $50 million category, and the St. John Nepomucene Parish Center project in the Commercial - New Construction $5 million to $10 million category. Representatives of St. John and Sandy Slope / Appleton Area School District, along with Hoffman project team members, accepted the award at the Awards Banquet.
Hoffman began construction on the new 99,500-square-foot Sandy Slope Elementary School in 2023 and completed the project in summer of 2025. The project was part of a $129.8 million capital referendum for the Appleton Area School District. The two-story school, with capacity for more than 600 students in grades K-5, features classrooms organized into grade-level neighborhoods with collaborative classrooms and a common space called the “Extended Learning Center”. The school also includes a dedicated two-class gymnasium with full-size basketball court and a central commons/cafeteria and gathering space.
“Throughout every phase of work, Hoffman’s project management was exemplary,” commented Greg Hartjes, Appleton Area School District superintendent. “They effectively coordinated with subcontractors, maintained timelines, and upheld strong fiscal oversight. Their commitment to quality, community, and partnership has made a lasting impact on the Appleton Area School District. We are grateful for their expertise and dedication, and we look forward to continuing our partnership in future facility initiatives.”
In Fall 2024, construction on the new Parish Center for St. John Nepomucene Catholic Community in Little Chute was completed. The 23,650-square-foot Center, which replaced the existing office complex, provides the parish with more space to support and engage with their community—specifically their younger members. In addition to improved handicap accessibility and enhanced office spaces for parish staff, the new parish center includes easier access and more space for the Parish Food Pantry; dedicated classrooms and meeting spaces for Faith Development Education; expanded children’s programming areas for children’s liturgy; and several multi-purpose rooms.
“We are extremely pleased with Hoffman’s work on our new Parish Center,” said Father Ron Belitz, pastor of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Community. “Hoffman’s management of the construction was outstanding. Their bidding process gave any qualified contractor a chance to possibly participate in the project, and that helped save us money. We knew Hoffman was looking out for our best interests!”
