Grafton School District to Hold Rededication Ceremonies
New and improved spaces on display at Kennedy, Woodview and Grafton High
(Appleton, Wis.) – Less than a year since the projects’ groundbreaking, renovation and expansion projects at three Grafton School District schools are nearing completion. The projects at Kennedy Elementary, Woodview Elementary and Grafton High School—designed and constructed by Hoffman Planning, Design & Construction—came after a $39.9 million building referendum was approved in April 2017.
“All three schools look fantastic and we’re excited to share the new and renovated spaces with students, parents and the rest of the community.”
Jeff Nelson
Grafton School District Superintendent
Rededication ceremonies will take place at each of the three schools, with tours to follow:
• Kennedy Elementary School – Tuesday, September 18 at 5 p.m with open house until 7:30 p.m. A new level was added to Kennedy Elementary to accommodate grades 4 and 5, new music and art rooms, and a new library and gymnasium. Two 4K classrooms, special needs classrooms, and office spaces were also renovated.
• Woodview Elementary School – Tuesday, September 18 at 6:30 p.m. with open house until 9 p.m. Woodview Elementary welcomes an eight-classroom addition, an Early Childhood and 4K space, a new gymnasium and a remodeled kitchen.
• Grafton High School – Homecoming week on Friday, September 28 at 5 p.m. with open house until 7p.m. The project at Grafton High School included a new gymnasium and new family locker rooms, as well as two math and special education classrooms. The high school’s tech ed space, science rooms and labs, band room, training/weight room, and locker rooms were also renovated.
The projects also included upgrades for security and accessibility for those with disabilities.
Hoffman began working with the Grafton School District in 2014 to evaluate their facilities and develop a long-term strategy. “It’s been a lengthy process, but the results were well worth the wait,” said Jeff Nelson, superintendent of the Grafton School District. “All three schools look fantastic and we’re excited to share the new and renovated spaces with students, parents and the rest of the community.”
Added Sam Statz, president of Hoffman, “We really like how these complicated projects came together and turned out. We’re excited for the district and their students as they begin to use and enjoy their new learning and athletic spaces.”
Deconstruction of Grafton Elementary School has begun, and site work will continue through the fall.
