The five-story building will contain a free public play space on the first and second floors, a childcare center on the third floor, rentable office space on the fourth floor, and multipurpose rooms for parent education on the fifth floor.
“First 5 Fox Valley is proud to partner with Hoffman on the transformation of the former Trout Museum into the new Family Resource Center,” said Barb Tengesdal, Ph.D., director of First 5 Fox Valley. “The Family Resource Center will play a critical role in serving children, parents, and families year-round and will have a lasting, positive impact on the community for generations to come.”
Hoffman completed planning and design of the renovation over the past six months, and construction began last month in April. Updates to the former Trout Museum that have been completed to this point include replacement of the existing roof, selective demolition, steel stud framing of new walls, and various mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) upgrades. Items next up for completion include the in-wall installation of wiring, pipes, and vents, and beginning drywall finishing. The renovation is expected to be completed in fall 2026.
“Hoffman is honored to be able to collaborate with First 5 Fox Valley on this important project that will have such a significant impact on our community,” said Kurt Peeters, Director of Design at Hoffman. “With the planning and design now complete, we anticipate a successful renovation and for First 5 to be able to occupy their new space this fall.”
