Appleton Area School District
Scope: New Construction & Renovations | In Progress
Continuing their decades-long relationship, the Appleton Area School District and Hoffman partnered on a District-wide facilities assessment to determine future needs and plan for an upcoming referendum.
Following the successful passing of the $129.8 million referendum in November of 2022, Hoffman has been providing design and construction services for many of the resulting projects, including the new $35 million, 96,000sf elementary school, Sandy Slope. The new elementary school, with capacity for 600+ students, will have classrooms organized into grade-level “pods”, each representing a K-5 level, and standard classrooms surround a common “Extended Learning Center”.
"I am excited to get this project underway and I know our staff and students are excited as well.”
Greg Hartjes
Superintendent
The school will include a dedicated two-class gymnasium with full-size basketball court, and a separate commons/cafeteria in the center of the building. Other specialized spaces will include a library/media center, a general music room, a Band/Strings/Flex room, Art, STEM, a sensory “gym”, and a number of Special Education programs spread throughout the facility. In addition to Sandy Slope, Hoffman is managing renovations and additions to Wilson Middle School and Kaleidoscope Academy, a two-story fitness center addition and renovations at Appleton North High School, and several elementary school renovations.
