Tom's Drive-In and Holidays Pub & Grill details

When looking to expand and serve more customers in the Appleton and surrounding area, the owners of Tom’s Drive-In and Holidays Pub & Grill partnered with Hoffman for the planning, design, and construction of their new Appleton location.

The project’s goal was to create two state-of-the-art restaurants that would attract a new generation of customers while continuing to cater to those that have come to love Tom’s and Holidays throughout the years.

The three-story Holidays features indoor tiered seating, multiple full-size bars, and gaming area. An outdoor patio that can accommodate up to 30 people is sheltered by a custom-designed glass privacy fence and a large overhead canopy adorned with LED string lighting.

Located near the indoor bar, the patio is outfitted with natural gas heaters, a fireplace, and an outdoor television. Two overhead doors open up to the patio. The second floor contains its own full-size bar, an open dining area that doubles as an event space, both small and large private meeting rooms, restrooms, and office space. The lower level is fully prepped for a future E-sports room, golf simulator, and cosmic mini golf course.

Tom’s Drive-In includes a spacious dining area (featuring a national parks theme), separate indoor ordering and condiments area, and Burger Vault for effective online ordering.

With this newest location now complete, the total number of Tom’s Drive-In’s grows to nine while this is the third Holidays restaurant.

Tom's Drive-In and Holidays Pub & Grill Expands in Appleton

Tom's Drive-In and Holidays Pub & Grill Expands in Appleton

YMCA of the Fox Cities details

Hoffman assisted the YMCA in planning a renovation that would bring the YMCA of the Fox Cities corporate offices to its Downtown Appleton location. Hoffman also oversaw renovations that created a personal training area that is separate from the YMCA’s common wellness spaces.

The new spaces were designed to offer staffing efficiencies as well as enhance member experiences. Splitting out the personal training area allows small group training sessions to have a dedicated space that won’t interfere with the general wellness spaces.

The remodel of the wellness area included 2,000 sq. ft. of space, combining an existing racquetball court and men’s fitness locker room to provide ample room for the YMCA’s personal training staff and equipment. Features include rubber and turf sport flooring, an industrial open ceiling system, and specialized equipment for individual or group performance training. The office renovation portion consisted of roughly 1,600 sq. ft. of offices, kitchen amenities, conference rooms, and storage areas. The remodeled space now houses the YMCA’s financial and I.T. staff.

The YMCA of the Fox Cities is also working with Hoffman to replace the Soldiers Square parking ramp located across the street from the YMCA’s Downtown Appleton facility. Hoffman has deconstructed the existing ramp and will oversee the design and construction of a new 311-stall ramp. The new ramp should be ready for use in 2022.

Sola Salon Studios details

Looking to expand their reach in Milwaukee, Sola Salon Studios selected Hoffman to help bring their next location to life. In just ten short months, Hoffman transformed the ground floor of an existing six-story, mixed-use building into Sola’s newest salon.

Located in Milwaukee’s Third Ward, the 5,580 square foot salon contains 28 independent studios, employee break room, men’s and women’s bathrooms, and lobby with an artic white colored stone accent wall. The salon’s modern aesthetic blends seamlessly with the unique decors for each of the stylists’ private studio. The crisp, bright hallways—which are a 180 from the previous dark, wooden interior—feature ceilings made of galvanized corrugated panels, which add to its clean, minimalist look.

In addition to Milwaukee’s Third Ward location, Hoffman has also developed new Sola Salon Studios in Appleton, Oshkosh, and Wausau.

Parker John's BBQ & Pizza details

Having acquired a vacated restaurant property at a highly desirable location, Parker John’s BBQ & Pizza turned to Hoffman to help them bring their next restaurant to the Green Bay market.

Hoffman provided both design and construction services for the project, which was a major remodel and transformation of a former Italian restaurant. A significant amount of work was required as Parker John’s prepares and serves their food in a very different way than the previous restaurant. Additionally, with a completely new brand taking over, a total renovation of the décor was necessary.

Hoffman began design work in late December in order to be ready for the one-month construction window that would begin in February. Once construction began, numerous hidden code issues were uncovered that required more work than first planned. However, collaborating closely with Parker John’s, Hoffman was able to work through the issues, coordinate several “on-the-fly” changes, and deliver an enhanced restaurant space that will serve Parker John’s well into the future.

U.S. Venture, Inc. Headquarters details

Beginning a new chapter in the company's storied history, Wisconsin-based U.S. Venture, Inc. partnered with Hoffman on the planning, design, and construction of its new, 21st century corporate headquarters. U.S. Venture's primary goal for the 59,000 square foot office building was to bring together multiple business divisions previously located at several sites while keeping its headquarters in the community. Just as important, the three-story facility was to be designed and built using green principles and practices and be a model of sustainability for company Associates, visitors, and the community. While the building’s design and construction utilized numerous sustainable features, a significant highlight is the use of over 20,000 square feet of reclaimed materials from various Wisconsin facilities. This effort contributed to the building’s striking design and helped reduce the impact on virgin materials.

Wisconsin Public Service Corporation, Rhinelander Service Center details

In an effort to enhance customer service and response time, Wisconsin Public Service Corporate (WPS) made plans to build a new service center in Rhinelander, Wisconsin—replacing two existing buildings located across town from each other. Hoffman’s extensive experience in sustainable design and project delivery was a primary reason WPS selected the firm to design the 76,000 square foot facility, which earned LEED® Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. The facility, which contains office space, a vehicle service area and storage, and warehousing space for equipment, allowed WPS to consolidate under one roof tasks previously completed in multiple buildings at different sites. Additionally, the service center was designed to offer WPS daily operating efficiencies, an outstanding work environment, and long-term operational cost savings.

Bemis Company, Inc. - Healthcare Packaging details

Bemis Company, Inc. selected Hoffman to provide planning, design, and construction management services for its $25 million facility expansion project in Oshkosh. The 160,000 sq. ft. project involved renovating two existing facilities on the Bemis Healthcare Packaging Oshkosh campus and constructing a 107,000 sq. ft. warehouse addition that combines the buildings into one.
The facility addition provides Bemis with increased warehouse space and feature a high-bay storage and racking system to hold raw goods and finished product. New offices were added to the existing warehouse as well as employee locker rooms and a state-of-the-art employee training center.
Highlights of the project’s design include the addition of a tour corridor that runs throughout all three facilities and allows clients to view the package manufacturing process, a more efficient lighting plan for the entire facility, and significant performance improvements to the clean rooms (that ensure a sterile environment during the production process), which help reduce energy costs.
The project doubled the size of Bemis’ healthcare packaging operations in Oshkosh and provides Bemis with a high-performance facility that will help them remain leaders in the global healthcare packaging market.

Greenville Center details

The first commercial building in Wisconsin to receive the Energy Star® Label from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Energy for excellence in energy performance, Greenville Center was envisioned as a laboratory for green architecture. This 36,000 square foot office building—designed and built by Hoffman—was the former corporate headquarters for Hoffman and is currently the home to the Kimberly-Clark Corporation. The building features extensive use of local and regional materials with high levels of recycled content and paints and carpets with low levels of VOCs (volatile organic compounds). The Cool Daylighting approach used makes use of natural light and reduces the need for electric lighting. The combination of daylight, low VOC materials and finishes, and a carefully designed ventilation system result in exceptional indoor environmental quality. Greenville Center has been the recipient of the Daylighting Champion Award from Wisconsin Focus on Energy, as well as the Friends of the Environment Award from the Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce.
