Manawa Celebrates Improvements at Elementary School

(Manawa, Wis.) – The School District of Manawa cut the ribbon yesterday on the first phase of its $12 million referendum approved by school district voters in November. The new bus turnaround and parking lot at Manawa Elementary School was completed in time to welcome back students for the 2019-2020 school year.

The outdoor spaces, which broke ground in early May, were identified as key improvements for student and family safety.

“Student and family safety is one of our top priorities, so we are pleased with how quickly this portion of the project was completed,” said Dr. Melanie Oppor, School District of Manawa District Administrator. “We’re ready to welcome back students for another great school year.”

“When communities hear ‘school referendums’, they typically think about newly constructed or highly renovated facilities,” says Jody Andres, Hoffman K-12 Market Leader/Senior Project Architect. “However, a new parking lot and space for buses are two important components of any school design and are the icing on top of the school exterior for Manawa.”

In addition to the bus turnaround and parking lot, district referendum work includes:
• Elementary School electrical, plumbing, and heating improvements
• Playground renovation
• Early Childhood and 4K classroom remodeling
• Replacement of roofing sections, fire alarm system, doors, and flooring
• Little Wolf Junior High School reconfiguration
• High School administration addition
• Shop area, science area, stage/commons area, and special education classrooms renovations
• Fitness Center addition
• Security improvements

Groundbreaking for the Little Wolf Jr./Sr. High School projects took place last week.
