Reporting Structure
Reports to VP of Finance and Administration.
Job Summary
The HR Manager is a strategic and hands-on individual that will lead and support core human resources functions across the organization. This role is responsible for overseeing employee relations, talent acquisition, compliance, performance management, and HR operations. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills to foster a positive and productive workplace culture.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Recruiting/Hiring & Terminations
- Develop and implement effective recruitment strategies, ensuring alignment with organizational goals
- Oversee the full recruitment lifecycle, including job postings, candidate screening, and interview coordination
- Lead the hiring process for summer interns and represent the organization at career fairs
- Advise and support hiring managers on best practices in recruitment and talent acquisition
- Manage onboarding, offboarding, and employee transitions to ensure positive experiences and compliance
Employee Relations & Engagement
- Serve as a trusted advisor for employees by addressing workplace concerns and fostering open communication
- Lead conflict resolution processes and develop strategies for performance improvement
- Design and implement employee engagement initiatives and recognition programs to promote a positive culture
Performance Management
- Lead the administration of performance review processes, ensuring alignment with organizational standards
- Guide employees and managers in setting, monitoring, and achieving performance goals
Training & Development
- Identify organizational training needs and coordinate impactful learning opportunities
- Support and monitor employee development plans to enhance workforce skills
Benefits & Payroll Support
- Oversee the administration of employee benefits programs and respond to complex inquiries
- Collaborate with Finance to ensure benefits for payroll processing are complete and accurate
Policy Compliance & Administration
- Ensure the organization’s compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
- Lead the maintenance and regular updates of the employee handbook and HR policies
- Oversee the secure management of employee records
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Provide guidance and oversight to cross-functional project teams or task forces on HR initiatives, ensuring adherence to organizational policies and promoting best practices in workforce management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- 7+ years of HR experience, preferably in a generalist or manager role
- PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred but not required
- Strong knowledge of HR best practices, employment law, and employee training programs
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Demonstrates strong organizational skills with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality
Physical Demands, Time Requirements & Standards Applicable to this Position:
Available for occasional overtime and extended business day.
No incident of crime, theft, fraud/misrepresentation, unethical financial or business dealings or poor personal credit history because position requires access to sensitive employee information.
