Reporting Structure
Reports to Education Market Team Leader. Coordinates efforts with all other Hoffman sales and marketing efforts.
Job Summary
The Director of Education Market Referendum Development is responsible for data researching, identifying, creating strategy workplans, initiating contact, and managing ongoing relations with potential clients. After a successful proposal, the director is responsible for planning and leading the study and referendum process through the referendum vote including the referendum information campaign.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Business Development:
- Present and sell company services to current and potential clients
- Actively research database for prospects that fit the ideal customer profile.
- Actively seek out new opportunities for projects of the type and in the geographic region assigned.
- Actively seek and develop relationships with organizations and individuals with access to early knowledge of potential projects and development opportunities.
- Involve others in discussions with clients and in other business development activities in an efficient manner to strengthen and maintain client relationships while minimizing impact on project work.
- Utilize CRM software to create effective internal communication and accountability.
- Provide input as to participation and approach for proposals, interviews, and other key sales functions.
- Take advantage of learning opportunities to increase understanding of project delivery.
Referendum Development
- Lead clients, clients’ planning teams, and Hoffman team through the established Hoffman facility planning and study process.
- Assist team in development of supporting materials.
- Assist team in developing potential facility solutions.
- Assist team in needs prioritization.
- Facilitate final solution selection.
- Assist owner’s consultants in writing, reviewing and approving legal referendum language.
- Lead referendum information campaign.
- Lead coordination of referendum information campaign events.

Qualifications:
- Detailed understanding of school referendum process and procedures.
- Basic understanding of school operations and processes.
- Proficient with word processing, spreadsheet, file-sharing, business, and software required to perform assigned work; maintains proficiency as these systems change. Proficient with social media flatforms such as LinkedIn and Facebook.
- Energized by selling, excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal); adapts easily to wide variety of client situations, knowledge levels and interaction styles.
- Excellent sales and persuasive skills; able to influence the actions and opinions of others through preparation, tenacity, shared knowledge, and commitment to corporate mission.
- Excellent organizational skills; resourceful, persistent, follows through appropriately and consistently.
- Self-guided and able to work independently, the majority of time is spent outside the office.
- Able to work collaboratively with clients and colleagues.
- Three to five years of experience selling design, construction, or leadership in education market.
Physical Demands, Time Requirements & Standards Applicable to this Position:
- Available for occasional (less than 10%) overnight travel and extended hours/business day.
- Valid driver’s license, ability to drive and be insurable under Hoffman policies at standard premium rates
- No history of violent crime, illegal drug selling or predatory behavior. Drug use or possession charges in the last five years will prohibit employment.
