Government

Hoffman works with county, municipal and tribal governments renovating existing buildings and developing new facilities. Our cost effective and energy efficient solutions have reduced utility costs, streamlined operations, and positioned their communities for long-term success.

The Neighbors of Dunn County details

The Neighbors of Dunn County features three facilities housing resident neighborhoods similar in layout to small home designs used in free standing skilled care units. Each neighborhood includes a central gathering area with a dining room, living room, and kitchen. Resident rooms are 100% private with full baths, ceiling tracks, and individual environmental control. The entire campus has internal paths that link the Life Care Center and Life Care Homes, and also connect to the adjacent community paths and other County facilities.

Dunn County’s change from the larger, more institutional facility to the smaller resident-centered care model provides a higher quality of life for residents.

Columbia County Health Care Center details

Opened in 1966, the Columbia Health Care Center facility in Wyocena, Wisconsin, met resident needs at the time. More than four decades later, the facility posed challenges to providing care as most residents are wheelchair bound and require two or more caregivers and specialty equipment. Still in good physical condition, Columbia Health Care Center sought improvements to bring the building up to current ADA and life safety codes. Columbia County partnered with Hoffman to provide planning, design, and construction services for the 122-resident facility.

McHenry County Government Center details

Hoffman was responsible for the architecture and construction management of the McHenry County (Woodstock, Illinois) Government Center, a 71,000 square foot administration building that was designed to be energy efficient without requiring LEED certification. Highlighted features of the project include storm water retention on site, a high level of systems control, and a reporting and monitoring system for the building’s energy management system. The building’s layout dramatically improved the departmental relationships and adjacencies, creating better overall productivity and worker efficiencies. In addition, the building is very public friendly, with all public services located just a short distance from the entrance and elevators.

Necedah Community — Siegler Memorial Library details

The Village of Necedah partnered with Hoffman on the design and construction of the 7,200 square foot Necedah Community-Siegler Memorial Library. Eager to replace the outdated and worn down Necedah Memorial Library, the Village was committed to providing a new, sustainable learning environment for its residents. The library offers an open concept design that includes an energy-efficient lighting system—featuring daylight and occupancy sensors—and high performance windows that provide abundant daylight for comfortable reading levels. Products with a high level of recycled content were used and low-VOC (volatile organic compound) interior materials provide the library’s users and staff with the highest quality of indoor air and a healthy environment. The building includes a main library space which features a vaulted ceiling with indirect lighting, an inviting reading area with a gas fireplace trimmed with a wood mantle and granite surround, and a large room designed for hosting community functions.
