Know When to Hold Them, Know When to Fold Them
Hoffman invited to share insight at national religious conference

(Appleton, Wis.) – Hoffman Planning, Design & Construction, Inc. will again bring its expertise to the Resource Center for Religious Institutes (RCRI) National Conference, which this year is going virtual.

Sr. Nancy Conway, a member of the Congregation of St. Joseph (CSJ) in Cleveland who now serves as a facilitation & engagement specialist at Hoffman, will lead the team in presenting Know When to Hold Them, Know When to Fold Them on Friday, Nov. 6, at 3 p.m. EST / 2 p.m. CST.

“Many congregations today face the daunting task of deciding what to do with aging buildings,” said Conway. “Our presentation explores the options available, including repurposing for continued use, assessing the market for sale, restoring for a new purpose or ministry, razing the building, or preserving it for historical purposes.”

Prior to joining Hoffman, Conway served on the CSJ Leadership Team, where she facilitated the Congregation’s strategic efforts regarding its buildings and properties across six states. Conway will be joined by Julie Heiberger, Hoffman’s religious market leader and senior project architect.

Hoffman has a rich history of partnering with women religious congregations, having served more than 50 congregations throughout the United States. Hoffman’s expertise in sustainable planning, design, construction, and renewable energy has helped congregations perpetuate their missions while having a positive impact on the environment.

In Wisconsin, Hoffman has collaborated with fourteen religious congregations, including the Dominicans of Sinsinawa (Sinsinawa), Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration (La Crosse), Sisters of St. Francis of the Holy Cross (Green Bay), Sisters of the Sorrowful Mother (Oshkosh), the Congregation of Sisters of St. Agnes (Fond du Lac), and the Benedictine Women of Madison.

This is the tenth time in the past 12 years that Hoffman has been among the presenters at the RCRI National Conference.

The Resource Center for Religious Institutes is an organization created to serve the needs of Catholic communities of religious women and men. They help congregations navigate the many complexities related to taxes and tax-exemption, corporate structure, internal organizational setup, finance, administration, and canon law. They work with hundreds of religious institutes and societies of apostolic life from all over the United States and from several foreign countries.
