Managing the Risks of a School Building Project
Hoffman-led panel to share insight at state education convention


(Appleton, WI) – As more school districts consider construction projects to meet ever-changing student and building needs, understanding basic contract and risk management issues is critical. An expert panel, led by Hoffman Planning, Design & Construction, Inc., will share their expertise at the 2017 Wisconsin State Education Convention, which is set for January 18-20 in Milwaukee.

Sandy Orsted, Hoffman’s vice president of administration, will be joined by Berlin Area School District superintendent Dr. Robert Eidahl and M3 Insurance account executive Kevin Miller for the session “Construction Contracting 101: A Basic Primer”, on Wednesday, January 18.

“For any school district considering a facility project, it’s important that school officials understand how to manage the risk of such an important expenditure,” Orsted said. “Our session will focus on the basics of contracting with design and construction firms, how a building project is insured, and the importance of working with the right advisors.”

Hoffman has worked with more than 60 public school districts, private schools, and charter schools throughout Wisconsin and northern Illinois and is an industry leader in sustainable planning, design, and construction. This is the eleventh consecutive year Hoffman has been invited to speak and share insight at the Wisconsin State Education Convention.

The Wisconsin State Education Convention, held at the Wisconsin Center in Milwaukee, brings together hundreds of school leaders each year to foster effective school board practices for student success through workshops and other education programs.
